Summer Fun!!

We had plans to begin our week with a swimming playdate with one of Mason's preschool buddies.  This week wasn't the week for a swimming playdate as we had lots of rain!  Monday was cool and cloudy so we changed it to just a playdate at our house.  Ryder is Mason's friend, and his mom is a kindergarten teacher that I know pretty well.  She also has another son that is close to Zane's age, so it works out well for us to get together!

We felt safe with these superheroes protecting us!
One of the things on our Summer Fun list is playing in the rain...check!

Playing Frisbee in the rain!  It was fun while it lasted...before the Frisbee fell into the sewer drain!
We've been spending lots of time outside!  Loving that it's not too scorching hot yet!

Older two on bikes...us following them!

This kid...shorts and rubber boots...all the time!

Cool dude!
We were able to get in one of our two baseball games this week.  Mason is just so stinkin cute in his uniform!  He was much more aggressive this week.  He had 2 nice hits and went after the ball almost every time it was hit.  The kids all run for it, even tackling each other to get the ball!  After the game, Mason said "Mom, I almost got the ball two times, but they got to it before me."  We keep telling him to do what he's doing.  Soon, buddy, soon!

Getting serious...

Looking so grown up!
He's ready!

He's aggressive!

Friday evening we headed to Iowa.  We were spending the night with my parents and heading to cousin Myah's first birthday on Saturday afternoon.  We stayed up late Friday and then the boys went fishing with Grandma and Papa Saturday morning.  Matt and I had to run a couple errands but got home in time to see some of the fishing!

Bryce mostly played in the weeds with sticks while I was there...

Fishing...patience...not always a strong point with the boys...
Mason had caught nothing at this point...he was getting frustrated and told me "I quit"

Trying ONE MORE TIME!

WOW!  After this he wanted to keep fishing.  I said I thought he was quitting and he said "No!"

Bryce caught 2!!!

Reeling it in!

Almost here!
We enjoyed Myah's party, even though the wind had its own opinion.  I felt bad for Sarah because she had so much planned and made and couldn't use much of it because everything was blowing away!  After the party we headed home to get ready for Matt and Zane to go to Bear Camp!

This morning they left before 8:00.  Mason, Bryce and I went to church, then decided to go to Sam's for groceries, then grab some lunch on the way home.  We were on the final stretch home when all of a sudden we got a flat tire, right in the middle of a busy street!  I was immediately scared and worried.  I was alone.  With two kids.  On a busy street.  I didn't know what to do.  While I was shaking, and crying, and Mason was unbuckling himself to see what was going on, I managed to call Matt.  I ended up driving very very very slowly to a parking lot, which was a tire shop, and then tried to figure out what to do.  Lucky for us we have amazing friends, who were on their way to Worlds of Fun, but turned their car around and came to help us.  Thanks Ottis Family!  Mary and the girls brought us and our groceries home while Jason stayed and waited for them to change the tire, then brought the van home.  Just yesterday at my parents' house, we noticed that we had a screw in a tire...not the tire that blew, a different one.  Right before Matt left this morning I asked him if we'd be okay driving the van and we agreed that it should be fine.  I must have had a feeling...and should have just taken the car...but thankfully it all worked out and we were all okay.  Guess there will be new tires in our future!

On another note, Grandma Beggs is in the hospital again.  She's having some digestive issues...so it's not even related to her MDS or heart attack.  The reports we are getting tonight are that grandma is looking much better, up and moving, and even asking for food!  Please pray for Grandma, and for Matt's mom, who has been by her side every single moment.  She is so selfless and giving and I'm proud to say she's my mother in law!

I'm anxious to see Matt and Zane tomorrow to find out how Bear Camp went!  Stay tuned for pictures next week!!!
