Graden's 75th!

Doing a little catch-up here! Last week was crazy...we ended up staying here last weekend so Matt could have more time to get the race car ready. Sunday night Mason woke up and threw up three times. Monday was kindergarten round-up so Matt and I split the day home with him. Tuesday night, Zane woke up and thre up four times. So I stayed home with him Wednesday. It made for a short work week!

Mason did so well for a couple of weeks at Jo's house with no biting...but we had a repeat offense this week! Actually 2 in one day! He bit one kid in his behind for no reason and bit another baby on the arm because he wanted the stroller! Apparently the babies all like dolls and stroller. They each have a certain doll they like, but there is only one stroller, and they don't share it well. Guess we need to get another stroller for Jo's house!

My school (Graden) is 75 years old this year, so we have had a lot of special events throughout the school year. Friday was the biggest event, an all-school carnival! Jo, the amazing planner, was in charge of the event. I made mints for it (800 of them). The first teacher at Graden, Mrs. Loncar, was able to be at our celebration! She is 96 years old and sharp as a tack! She inspires me! I worked for part of the evening and the boys all met me there to play. It was fun! I had all but 2 of my kids there...so I'd say it was a successful evening!

Zane-isms

• Matt and I were arguing the other night and Zane looked at me and said, "Hey, you don't talk to my dad like that!" Wow!
• Favorite new phrase: "You get what you get, and you don't throw a fit!" (Wish he's listen to his own advice...)
• Another favorite: "Too bad, so sad!"
• We rented "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeaquel." In it, one of the chipmunks is a litter monitor and issues citations. Something was on the floor in our house, so Zane came up to Matt with a little piece of paper that he had written on and issued Matt a citation for littering!
• New code words: McDonald's = "combine," Burger King = "pick up," Sonic = "tractor," Pizza Shoppe = "car." So Zane will say "Mom, I want to go to tractor for supper." He tried using this one night on us when Mason kept saying "tra-ter" over and over. I wanted to go to Pizza Shoppe, but Zane wanted to go to Sonic...so he said "See Mom, Mason wants to go there too. He keeps saying tractor!"

Mason's Marvels

• If you say to Mason, "can you count?" he will say "two, do!" (2, go!) He will sometimes say "2, 2, 2, do!" It's so cute!
• Mason really tries to repeat a lot of what we say! We'll have to be careful around him! :)
• Today I picked Mason up at Jo's before getting Zane at Preschool. I started putting him into the van and turned himself all the way around, looking in the backseat for Zane!
• Last night on the way home from Iowa, we stopped at McDonald's for supper. Mason kept fussing and not wanting anything I tried to give him...sprite, chicken nuggets, fries, nothing! Finally I handed him the whole sack and he got a huge grin on his face and was fine from that point on!

Easter, A Wedding, and AC/DC

Welcome spring! We are LOVING this weather!!! It is such a welcome sight after the long winter we have had! This week Jo was closed on Friday so that she could attend her daughter's field trip. So Thursday evening Matt headed to St. Joe to meet his parents so they could take them to the farm for the weekend. Boy was Zane excited...he kept telling his teachers all week..."Preschool, Jo's house, Preschool, Jo's house, PAPA FARMER'S HOUSE!" He is so lucky to have awesome grandparents! They boys spent lots of time outside on the farm and we soon discovered that Mason has allergies! His poor eyes are red, swollen, and get very mattery. He looks miserable! We headed home Saturday for our firends, Josh and Jamie's wedding. It was a great time and gorgeous wedding! Then Sunday we went to Aunt Reeta's for Easter and to celebrate Jake and Keaton's birthdays.

One of Keaton's birthday presents was a set of swords! As soon as Zane saw that, he wondered why Keaton got two of them...so they decided to try them out! Zane has trouble when it's someone else's birthday...he just doesn't understand why it isn't his! This time he did pretty well, but he did have Keaton reminding him, "Zane, it's not your birthday, it's mine."

Matt and I headed back to KC and left the boys on the farm. We had tickets to AC/DC at the Sprint Center. The concert was originally supposed to be in October, but was rescheduled for this weekend. We got home, changed, then went to eat some of our favorite pizza before the show. It was our second concert, so we knew what to expect, and we were not disappointed. This time we had floor seats...21st row and very close to the stage! On Monday, between my allergies and a loud concert...my ears were plugged!

Matt's grandpa Beggs has not been feeling well, still. He ended up going back to the hospital on Monday. Please keep him in your thoughts as they figure out what is troubling him and work to solve those issues!

Zane-isms

• One night during bathtime, Matt and Zane were chatting. Zane was telling Matt that he, Matt, and Mason all had peepers and butts. Then he got this look on his face and said, "Dad, why does Mom only have a butt?" Man, these questions start way too early!
• Tonight during bathtime, I heard Zane say to Matt, "I had a good time at Papa Farmer's house." Ah!
• As Zane was opening a new monster truck, he noticed it had a flag. He said, "It has a flag? Are you joking me?"

Mason's Marvels

• Mason LOVES to have his belly rubbed when he lays down to sleep. So lately I've been rubbing his belly a little before I leave the room. It's funny when you stop because he will grunt, grab your hand, and put it back on his belly!
• New words, "down, tractor, up"

The week began with Mason's checkup at the doctor. He is actually down in weight a little bit (he never stops moving) but growing and doing well. He's doing things a 19 month does (at 16 months) so we were proud! The weather has turned very nice lately and we have been spending a lot of time outside. They boys love it! We're going to have a great summer!!!

The kids were busy last week getting ready for Easter. Jo dyed eggs and had an egg hunt for the kids. She actually had 2 days worth so that all of the Preschool kids could join in on the fun. Mason apparently kept taking the other kids' eggs (he's becoming a little bully...). Zane drove Jo nuts all morning asking her when it was time to do things! We headed to Iowa on Friday to celebrate Easter. Saturday we spent the day at Grandma/pa Baker's house. Zane, Porter, Mason & Tate had a lot of fun together! We had a great meal, as always, and enjoyed our time together.

Saturday evening we headed to Leon for the Bunch Easter. My cousin Susan and her husband Jon just adopted a little girl, Ella, and we were having a shower for her. Ella is 2 and she is ADORABLE! We are so lucky to have her as a part of our family! We were anxious to meet her! It was fun to see everyone and to celebrate the growth of our family!

Easter morning the boys woke up and looked through their gifts from the Easter Bunny. They also got presents from the Grandmas/pas...so they were very spoiled!

We did not have an Easter to attend Sunday, so we went to Grandma/pa Beggs' house for dinner. Matt grilled hamburgers and hot dogs for everyone and we had a nice visit. It was a gorgeous day, so the boys put a lot of miles on all of the farm toys...they had so much fun!
