Blue and Gold Banquet

Weekly does of Thomas:

Already growing out of clothes and diapers!  :(

What a nice little family!  :)

Precious!
The tooth fairy was back in business last week with the loss of Mason's first tooth!  Thank goodness it fell out on its own.  If there's one thing I can't handle well, it's loose teeth!  He's been working on the darn thing for over a week and it finally made its way out of his mouth!  The one right beside it is hanging on for dear life..it'll be out soon!

One less tooth...
This weekend we had lots of company!  Adam, Bethany, Craig, and Keeta came down to watch the boys play basketball.  We watched both games and had lots of good food.  I could diet for a month and still survive!  After the games we had the yearly Blue and Gold banquet for Scouts.  Zane received his Bear patch so he is now a Webelo.  The theme was Knights of the Roundtable and Zane's den always goes a little above and beyond!  They were dressed to the nines and had the best decorated table there!

Our Knight in shining armor!

They had some entertainment that the boys loved!

And then when they received their patches and awards their den leader "knighted" them!  :)

It was a busy and fun weekend.  This week is looking to be very crazy busy as well!  I think this is just our normal!

Winner Winner, Chicken Dinner!

I love getting texts with pictures of my Thomas.  Except the writing that comes with it makes me sad.  For instance, one said "He misses you."  Arrow to the heart!  I miss him too.  And I'm really just kidding Aaron and Michele, please keep the pictures coming.  The alternative would kill me!

Sleeping beauty...wait are you supposed to say that about a boy? I don't care!

This is the one that came with the "He misses you" text.  I miss you too buddy!

Snug as a bug in a rug!

This was my Valentine's Day picture from Thomas!
Last Saturday was the Pinewood Derby District competition.  This one was where all of the winners from the packs came together to compete against one another.  First each level competes (tigers, wolves, bears), then the winners from that go on to the finals.  Zane won the bear competition, then got to go on to finals!  Zane had lots of support - two families from his den came to watch!  It was so great to see them there and know they were there to support Zane!

Bryce settling in for a LONG day!

Winner!

Yay!

Another trophy to add to the collection!

Results
We went back later in the evening for finals.  Bryce, Mason and I arrived after the races had already started because Mason had a basketball game right before the finals.

Doing well again!

Towards the end Zane said "I have butterflies in my stomach!"

In the finals we were up against some of the same people from last year.  There are two families that make the finals EVERY YEAR!  Last year one of them got first, we got 2nd, and the other got 3rd.  This year...we got first!  You could tell it was bothering one of the dads...he kept writing down all of his finishes, as well as ours, and was calculating the results after every race.  One time I heard him say to the other dad "if it ended now we would lose."  Can you say INTENSE???

He won!  He won!  First place overall!

A boy and his trophy...

I wanted a picture of Matt and Zane but everyone had to join...
So proud!

Funny how everyone came to see the car and ask Matt for his secrets after the win!  :)

A few days ago as we were getting ready to leave in the morning, Zane was frantically searching for money.  We were running a little short on time so Matt and I were both getting after him to hurry up, etc, etc.  We asked what he needed money for and he kept saying "nothing, never mind, it doesn't matter." When I picked him up after school that day he had his hand behind his back and said "Mom, I got something for you!" with a huge smile on his face.  Then he pulled out a red carnation!  I seriously about started crying right there!  Then I said "Is that what you needed money for today?"  "Yes"  "Why didn't you just tell Dad?  He would have given you money!"  "I wanted it to be a surprise for everyone!"  What a sweet sweet boy!  Love him so much!

My special flower from Zane!  He said he could have chosen white for friendship, pink for a secret admirer, but he chose red because it was for love!
Yesterday was Valentine's Day.  We had no plans other than going to the boys' basketball games and just spending time together.  Zane's game was at noon.  He had his best game EVER!  He has only ever scored one basket in a game, gotten a few rebounds, but never hardly gets the ball passed to him.  At this age, once someone gets the ball, they keep it.  They don't do much passing.  This week they all did such a great job and really worked as a team.  Zane scored 14 points this week!  It was so fun and exciting to watch!  Everyone noticed his great game and was complimenting him on it...he was all smiles!  Mason's game was an hour later.  He didn't get ahold of the ball much but did score once.  It's really been fun to watch these two in basketball.  Only two more weeks to go!

After we got home, Matt snuck out and came back with these flowers, and some peanut butter m&m's for me!  So sweet!

Beautiful arrangement from my Valentine!

2/3 cooperative...

The only way I could catch a smile out of Mason...keep snapping and Bryce started making funny faces!

Pinewood Derby, A Wedding, Thomas, and Uncly Daryl

We've been without internet the last couple of weeks and it randomly came back on so I'm trying to hurry and get a post up before it disappears again!  Lately we haven't had an oven, washing machine, internet, or Tahoe!  AAAHHH!

I've been loving getting these pictures texted to me the last couple of weeks!

Always with his hands by his face!
Last weekend Matt's brother Brent and Jodie got married.  We were not at the wedding but they are having a reception in August and we are excited to celebrate with them!

Last Saturday was the Pinewood Derby!  Matt (and Zane) had been working to get their car race ready and were excited to see how it would perform.

Ready for some racing!
This year's car didn't disappoint...didn't lose a single race!

Winner winner, chicken dinner!

Heading to get his trophy!

Reigning champion!

With buddy Tyler
So proud!

Finals...all alone cause he won finals too!

Second time getting the trophy!

Yay!

On to finals!

Proud of my boys!
After all of the races are over there's an open class where the rules are a little different and anyone can enter.  Mason decided he wanted to enter this race, so they took Zane's car from last year, tweaked it a little, and entered it.  His car was doing great - winning every race - until one race where a car next to him lost a wheel.  The wheel got in front of Mason's car and slowed him down.  That was the ONLY race he didn't win, and it cost him the overall win.  I thought they should have re-run the race, but I don't even think they realized what had happened...even the announcer kept looking at us talking about the trophy and getting it home.  The grand prize trophy was over 6'7" tall...would have been fun to have around for the next year...but it is a traveling trophy and has to be returned.  Instead, Mason got 2nd place and a smaller trophy.  Even though he truly did win, he was happy that he has a trophy he now gets to keep.  Either way, we know he's the true winner!

Getting his trophy

This weekend I headed to St. Louis to cuddle with Thomas for the weekend and the boys stayed home to have some quality guy time!  Thomas is perfect in every way!  He is such a good baby and I loved every moment with him!  I already miss him and can't wait to see him again!

Our first cuddle!

Hanging out in the middle of the night!

We did a lot of cuddling.  We have a bond.

We talked a lot.  He smiled.  Seriously.  He loves me.

Chatting it up!

Really telling me about it!

Having sweet dreams!

Seriously!  All weekend he kept doing this and I could never get it on camera!  On my way home Michele sent me this picture!  I wanted to turn around and go back!  :)
While I was away the boys had their own fun!  They also got my oven fixed and somehow got the internet to work!  Yay boys!

Bryce looked outside and saw the snow...got himself dressed...and was waiting to go out and play in it!

Saturday morning my Dad called to let me know that his youngest brother, my Uncle Daryl, passed away.  Daryl had been battling ALS for the last few years.  I am so thankful he is now not suffering, but he was such a fun-loving and amazing man!  He definitely will be missed!
