Kansas Speedway

Lately when Zane has gotten up in the mornings, the lights have bothered his eyes...so he has been asking for his sunglasses to wear while his eyes adjust. Here he is one morning this week watching cartoons when he woke up:

Thursday, Matt's parents came down to get Zane and take him back to Iowa. They got here in enough time to go with us to pick him up from preschool. He was SO excited that he was beside himself and didn't know how to react! As soon as we got in the car he kept saying "go to Papa and Gaga's house now!" He was ready to go spend the weekend with them!

Friday night after work, Matt and I headed to Kansas Speedway for our annual Nascar race weekend! It was a busy, fun, and exciting weekend! We are very worn out and tired...not used to staying up that late!! I hope we can catch up on our sleep soon! Here are some pictures of our weekend:

Clint Bowyer and I (my favorite driver, we
saw him in the infield Friday night!)

Zane had so much fun in Iowa while we were at the race! He got to see all of his grandparents and great-grandparents, so it was a good weekend for that! He also found out how to turn the lawn mower on by himself and was driving it around the farm...to grandma's surprise! I guess all of the keys need to be out of EVERYTHING now! Nothing is safe around Zaner! Here are some pictures of Zane on the farm:

Have a great week!

Welcoming Fall and Our 6th Anniversary!

What a change this week...it feels like summer again! I was all ready to wear fall clothes from here on out, but we were in for a surprise all week long! Monday was our friend Mary's birthday, so we went out to eat together. It was fun! Mary didn't really want a dessert, so she let me order cheesecake for her birthday dessert! Yum!

Tuesday I got a call from the doctor saying that I didn't pass my glucose test and I do have gestational diabetes again. I think I almost squeaked by, but didn't, so now I am off to the dietician to learn all about how to control my diet and take my blood sugar levels...I'm sure I'll be bored because I already know how! Other than that, Bobby moves around like crazy and is causing me lots of numbness in my hands, especially at night, and my feet are getting rather large already. The stinker isn't even born yet and is showing us who's boss!

This weekend we stayed home again. Our plan was to get started on finishing our basement. Now that we've moved Zane into the guest room, we have nowhere for guests to stay! We're hoping to have it done by the time Bobby arrives. Friday we headed out to Lakeside Speedway to watch the races. This was Zane's first time at the races this year. He loved it, but had to wear earplugs. He isn't too fond of loud noises lately! When we asked him who we were there to watch, he said "Chris Hogan." We had to tell him we were actually there to watch Kerry Davis because Chris Hogan wasn't there! Wrong track! Here's a video Matt took with his phone of Zane's reaction to the cars. It's kind of loud, so here's your warning!

Saturday morning we woke up and headed to the Apple Orchard and Red Barn Farm with the Ottis family (Jason, Mary & Madelyn). We had so much fun!!! Zane and Madelyn are just like brother and sister. They get along SO well! In fact, Zane is always asking me if Madelyn is coming over to our house!

When we got there, the tractor took us out to the apple trees. Zane and Madelyn had fun picking apples! Matt and Zane decided to try a few of them out first...and thought they were tasty! Here are a few pictures:

Every time Matt picked Zane up to get the
apples, he would arch his back like this. It
was hilarious! I think he was afraid the
branches would get him!
See my apples!
This one Dad?

Don't they make a cute pair?

After picking our bag of apples, we took a snack/drink break. It was still morning and it was getting HOT! We loaded up in the van and headed across the road to Red Barn Farm. There were a lot of people there already! While there, we saw pigs, horses, goats, chickens, horses, and even a pumpkin patch! Zane and Madelyn rode ponies, it was very cute! Before leaving, we took a hayride to the pumpkin patch. It was a long, hot ride, and everyone was getting tired and hungry. We left after that, had lunch, and then went home for a nap!
Happy Fall!

At the end of Zane's nap, we had a surprise visit from my parents! They were down here for their hardware show and were heading home. They stayed at my brother's place since it's much closer to where the show was. Papa headed straight to Zane's room to wake him up...luckily he had been asleep for about 3 hours already! They stuck around for a little while, then headed back home.

Today we went to church, ate dinner, then headed home to begin lots of projects! Matt and Zane started on the basement, I ran some errands, then came home and cleaned the van out. It was pretty dirty! Today is our 6th wedding anniversary...my how time flies! I can remember that day like it was yesterday! What an awesome memory I have of our wedding! We didn't really "celebrate" by doing anything, but I'm sure we'll get our chance to soon! We'd rather just be together and spend our time with Zane!

We hope that everyone has a great week! Thanks for checking in on our crazy lives! Take care!

Rain, Rain, Rain, and the Circus!

Okay, I know we needed the rain desperately, but I'm ready for a day of sunshine! It's interesting to be around farmers...the weather NEVER cooperates with what they are needing...earlier in spring they were talking about never getting crops in because of all the rain, now they've been begging for it. Mother Nature...

I got my results back from my glucose test...and I didn't pass it. Boo hoo! So I had to go back on Friday for the 3-hour test. It went okay, a long morning when you have to get blood drawn four times, they won't let you leave their office, and all you can have the whole time is water! I'm sure I'll hear back tomorrow (Monday). I'm just getting myself ready for hearing that I am gestational diabetic...at least this time I know more about it and I know I'll survive!
Zane is still REALLY into coloring! This week we bought a giant coloring book while shopping for a birthday gift. Here he is coloring a picture from it:

Matt picked Zane up one day this week and they drove through Sonic for a pop. Later on, when Zane was going to the bathroom, Matt said "oh, that must be your diet coke coming out." Then he went to the bathroom a little later, Matt said "more diet coke," and Zane said "No, this is root beer." When we were getting Zane ready for bed and reading books, he all of a sudden realized he had to go to the bathroom, ran in, and I heard him say "Look, sprite!" Then he looked at Matt and said "Whew, I made it!" You probably had to be there, but it was hilarious!

We stayed in KC this weekend and it was nice to get odds and ends done around here. Friday we were going to go watch some racing action down here, but due to all the rain the races were cancelled. Joella reminded us that the circus was in town, so we got tickets. By the time Matt got home from work, the weather was getting worse and there were tornado warnings out! We were unsure if we should even leave home or not...but finally decided to go. We got there late, but I'm glad we went! Zane wasn't too sure at first, but he ended up warming up to it!

He did NOT like the loud music at first!
Warming up when the tigers came out!
One of his favorites...tigers!
He also loved the clowns
Cheering/hollering!
This was the ONLY treat we got, it was $12!
The elephants...he wasn't too sure of them.

Today we went to church. It had been awhile since we'd been there! It was nice to go again. Afterwards we drove around some neighborhoods looking for houses that are "for sale" (we'd like to move maybe next summer). Then Matt had to head to Iowa for the races. They only got 1/2 way through the features last week, so they wanted to finish them this week. They were at 4:00. Zane and I have had a nice afternoon, but we have missed having Daddy here!
We're hoping that Matt's parents, brother, and sister made it to London! They left from KC Friday, but were delayed about 7 hours or so due to weather and planes not working correctly. They didn't get off to a good start! I think they are missing out on a whole day of their vacation, which stinks! We do know that they got to Chicago, but had to spend the night there before heading out in the morning. I'm sure they'll have lots of stories to tell us!
Have a great week everyone!

A Bobby Update!

Preschool went pretty well this week! Tuesday Matt took Zane in the morning. I had to leave a little early for a meeting, so we are convinced that Zane thought he was staying home with his Daddy...so when it came time to go to preschool, he wasn't real thrilled. Matt said he whimpered a little bit, but when he went to pick him up he told Matt how much fun he had! Thursday was the same, he cried when I dropped him off, but as soon as I picked him up he was showing me the combine he drew and telling me he had fun! We'll get past the crying eventually...I hope!

It rained Wednesday and Thursday this week, so we didn't get much outside playing time. We're hoping to squeeze some more time in before the weather turns cold! It was hard to believe that it began feeling like fall temperatures overnight! We never knew from day to day whether to wear shorts or pants...I love fall but I guess I wasn't ready for the chilly weather yet!

We had a doctor appointment Wednesday. It was an ultrasound, glucose test, and checkup. The first thing we did was the ultrasound. If you remember from our last one, we were asked to come again for a follow up appointment to recheck the heart. The ultrasound technician could see all 4 chambers, but they weren't showing up well on the pictures, so my doctor ordered another ultrasound just to be on the safe side. It was so neat to be able to see Bobby again and make sure everything was okay! She found the heart right away and we saw 4 chambers! At 27 weeks, Bobby looks more like a baby and less like an alien! We saw a cute little face, chubby thighs, and s/he was showing off for us! We even saw praying hands and a fist again! Everything looked good, so we were thrilled! She said that she thinks this baby may be a little larger than Zane was...I hope not too much! Bobby currently weighs 2 lbs 7 oz. Here are a couple of pictures that we got, this one was a quick ultrasound since it wasn't our first, so we only got a few pictures.

Profile...baby is looking up:

Baby is looking at the camera...you can see the forehead, both eyes, and nose. Hands are in front of the mouth:

Here was our arm/fist shot again:Look at those chunky thighs already! (Thigh on left, foot on right)
This weekend we stayed with Matt's parents. They will be leaving for Europe for 10 days, so I think they were glad to be able to spend some time with Zane! They had a blast playing on the farm. Zane got to ride the 4-wheeler, tractor, and pull wagons around. He was in 7th Heaven!

Zane has really been into drawing and coloring lately! He actually wants others to draw/color and he wants to watch! Every once in awhile he'll help out, and he will definitely tell you where to color and/or not color! He had all of his grandparents coloring like crazy this weekend. I think they actually enjoyed it! I was able to capture my parents coloring with him today!

This is a smiley face picture Zane drew on our stairs. Pretty good huh?
Then he drew these three smiley faces. They are Papa, Gaga, and Zane!
Tonight we tried and tried to get a good video of him winking and saying "Doin' hot stuffs?" Here is the best we could get. You really have to see him do this in person. It's hilarious!

Have a fabulous week!

Happy Labor Day!

This week Uncle Brent was here again for some classes! He spent the night at our house Sunday and Thursday night. Zane thought it was funny to be loud and try to wake him up in the morning!

Preschool drop-off was a little harder this week. Zane CRIED hard when I left him, both days! Tuesday he even tried running after me. His teacher said it took him about 20 minutes to calm himself down, but then he had a great day. I don't know why he's doing it...when I pick him up he'll tell me how much fun he had! Thursday I actually had an all-day meeting at his building, so I was able to go down a few times during the day and peek at him in action. It was so strange to see my "baby" sitting at a table doing "school stuff!" The kids were all coloring a picture...everyone sitting nicely holding one crayon...and Zane with a fistful! That's my boy! Later on I peeked in on him sleeping. That day they had a fire AND tornado drill, it was a busy day at preschool! Here's a picture of Zane reading in the living room one evening this week:

School was busy this week. I had my first sub day Thursday and it was a long day with parent orientation that night until 8:00. I am so uncomfortable talking in front of a roomful of adults! I'm glad it's over. Friday we headed to Iowa for the long weekend. It was a busy, but relaxing weekend. We got to see a lot of family this weekend. Matt's cousin Abby and her husband Wes were back from Montana. We saw them a year ago, so it was nice to see them and spend time with them again! Matt, his dad, sister, brother, and cousin Sarah went boating Sunday. Zane, Keeta, and I opted out! It's good thing we did because Zane ended up getting up in the night Saturday night with a fever and had it all day Sunday. He was so much better today and didn't have a fever at all, so we're glad it was short lived! It's so sad to see him just drop and not have any energy, that's just NOT my boy!

Here are a few pictures from this weekend. My dad pushing Zane in the wheel barrow:

Zane and Keaton playing Jarts...

Zane loves to have "parades" on the farm. He gets in front and everyone has to follow him. Here is Marcy and Brent in the "parade."

Have a GREAT week!

Zane's Funnies

Matt recently taught Zane to wink. Along with the wink, he taught him to say "How ya doing, hot stuff?" It is SO FUNNY to see Zane do this! He can't completely figure out the wink, but he turns his head to the side, closes one (or both) eye, and says "Doing hot stuffs?" The problem: he says it to EVERYONE! I am trying to get him to do this on camera so you all can see it!

I have worked and worked with Zane on the ABC's and he always joins in, but only on certain parts...this week he all of a sudden broke out into the ABC song, sang it all the way through, even with the ending! We were shocked and proud!
