Pumpkin Carving

This week at my doctor appointment, I was telling my doctor that I had been having the same types of feelings that I did when I went into labor with Zane. She told me that I am now far enough along that if I went into labor they wouldn't stop it! I immediately went into panic mode! So we have spent this week thinking of what needs done before Bobby makes his debut into the world! I have been trying to prepare at school and at home. Zane was 12 days early so you never know...we could have a family of four in another few weeks! In case you're wondering just how much Bobby has grown, here's a belly picture of me. Isn't Zane a great helper!

34 weeks pregnant...only 6 to go!

It was a rainy, yucky week! It sure did green our yard up, which meant Matt had to mow yet again this weekend. I would think we'd soon be done with that! This weekend was a busy one for us. Matt's been working on the basement. He's now to the point that he's ready for someone to come in and do the electrical work, so he's been getting bids on that. As soon as that's done, we will be ready for sheetrock! We headed out to look for furniture this weekend and found some pieces we really liked. We need to be getting all of those things figured out/ordered so they can all be here when needed!

We also worked on getting the carpet in Bobby's room shampooed. It looks so good in there now! I have a long list of things that need washed/cleaned, so am starting to tackle that list as I have time. This afternoon we decided to carve our pumpkins that we got last week. We ended up carving two and putting stickers/props on the other two. Here are some pictures of us working on the pumpkins. I have a video also, but for some reason I can't get it to upload tonight, so I'll try again tomorrow.

Zane was full of cute sayings today! Here are a few things that caught us off guard and made us smile:

• This morning at church, Zane was eating some fruit loops cereal. He was chewing very loud and we kept asking him to please close his mouth and chew quietly. He misunderstood us and said "I choke. Watch." So then he proceeded to try to swallow a fruit loop whole to show us that he HAD to chew them or he would choke! I had to demonstrate for him what we meant...to chew with his mouth closed!

• After Matt was finished carving his pumpkin, Zane looked at it and said "Oh Dad, you're good. You bood boy (good boy)."

• I brought Zane inside after carving pumpkins and told him we could look at the pictures and video on the computer. After watching the video, he swiped his hand across his forehead and said "Whew! I got hot working on the pumpkins!"

• Zane was in the kitchen helping Matt make some popcorn and he was trying to tell Matt something or other. When Matt wasn't paying full attention to him, he said "Dad, you not being a good listener. You not listening to me!"

A Trip to the Pumpkin Patch!

This week began with a work day at school for getting report cards ready. It's hard to believe the first quarter is already over! It was nice to have a day to get things done. Matt continues to work on the basement, usually for a couple of hours each night. Lately, Zane has been going down there with him, usually with a snack, and sits right inside this crate watching movies!


Apparently, I've been quite the snorer at night lately...I'm blaming it on the pregnancy! So Matt got the idea for he and Zane to "camp out" in the living room Friday night. They laid blankets and pillows out and put some Tom & Jerry cartoons on tv. They started off in separate spots, but Zane got cold in the night, so he moved closer to his Daddy. It was pretty cute to find them all cuddled up in the morning!

Saturday we decided to take our annual trip to the Pumpkin Patch! Zane was really excited about it, and so were we! It's so fun to take him places now that he can understand what we're doing and remember the details! While there, we fed and petted animals, played a lot, rode trikes, went through a hay maze, rode a train, and rode a hayride out to the pumpkin patch. We picked out 4 pumpkins for our family: one for Daddy, Mommy, Zane, and Bobby. Zane was all over the pumpkin patch, running everywhere looking for the best one. He kept saying "Come on, over here. I found one." He was looking for his and Bobby's pumpkins. He kept getting tripped on the vines and one time fell right in some mud...lucky for us it didn't bother him too much!

After the pumpkin patch, we went to lunch and there was an arcade there. Zane played this Nascar racing game. It was hilarious to watch him...the steering wheel shook while it was going, and it was shaking his whole body! He actually did a good job on the game!

Last night we went out for supper and did a little shopping...or should I say browsing (we didn't buy anything). Zane kept wanting to race Matt, and every time he would squat like this and say "Daddy, go like this." Here is a picture and video of them racing.

Zane's been using the "be patient" expression quite a bit lately, especially when we ask him to do something, so we've had to make sure he's saying "be patient please" so it doesn't sound like he's being rude. He even said it at preschool this week! Luckily, they thought it was funny! It just reminds us how much he picks up on and that we need to be careful because anything we say can (and probably will) be repeated!

Happy Birthday Matt!

We were so proud of Zane this week...both Tuesday and Thursday he WALKED into preschool (always before he wanted us to carry him or he would throw a fit). There were also NO TEARS either day!!! Thursday was the best day yet...he walked in smiling and laughing, helped me hang up his backpack, gave me a hug and kiss good-bye, then hugged his teacher and started playing! I must say it felt so much better to leave him knowing he wasn't crying!

Zane caught me a little off guard the other night...I told him it was time to take a bath so he should turn his movie off. He said "Just a minute. Be patient!" Um...I didn't know what to say! Matt just laughed and said he sounded just like his mother. I do say that to him...I guess he must be listening once in awhile!

This week Zane took a couple of bubble baths. The first time we ever put bubbles in his bath, quite some time ago, he did NOT like it. Now he loves it! Here he is laying in the bubbles:

Thursday night I hosted a baby shower for my friend Mary. She was induced the next morning! We brought Madelyn home on Friday because the baby hadn't been born yet. She and Zane had so much fun! They jumped down the steps one at a time together, then Zane stood at the bottom of the steps and took her picture. They played outside on the swingset and even put Zane's lion down the slide! When Matt got home we took them out for supper. Here are a few pictures of them having fun together!

At 5:45, Nora Grace was born! They did not know what they were having, so it was a surprise to us all! After we fed the kiddos, we headed to the hospital so Madelyn could meet her new baby sister. Zane had a hard time staying away and wanted to be in the limelight. He kept wanting to get up on the bed with Mary, Madelyn and Nora. Matt took him out to play for awhile so that the new family could get to know each other! Of course I had to hold Nora. She is so sweet and looks just like her big sister! Zane was all over wanting to see and touch her. He kept trying to open her mouth and also her fists. It sure will be interesting to see what he will do when it's actually our baby and it comes home with us! Here is Zane meeting Nora:

Matt (and Zane) has been working on finishing our basement. He gets a little done each night, but was looking forward to the weekend so that he could get even more done. His main goal for the weekend was to get the entryway wall knocked down. Friday night after we got home from the hospital, he and Zane took their aggressions out on the wall! It's now down and looks so strange to us! Matt's now almost done with the framing work and ready to do the electrical wiring. Not too much longer and he'll be hanging sheet rock! Today Matt celebrated his 32nd birthday! His parents came down and took us to dinner at the Saddle Ranch. It was yummy! They brought him a huge birthday cake dessert! Zaner has recently been really testing his limits with us. While at the restaurant today, he wasn't doing a very good job of listening, so he had to sit in time-out for a little bit. It was so funny, yet sad, to see...here is a picture of him sitting there, just like his Dad said to. During his time-out, he started acting like he was eating. It was pretty cute!

Go Bearcats!

Can you believe it's October already? I can't! This week did not feel like fall/October weather, it was HOT in KC!! We're trying to enjoy every moment of it before we are no longer able to!

I was a little nervous going to the doctor this week because I had a few higher blood sugar numbers while at the Speedway last weekend. The dietician thought I was doing okay, but the doctor gave me one more week to get the numbers straightened out and if I can't, then I will have to start taking insulin. I'm praying that I won't have to do that! That would mean going to the doctor TWO times every week, YUCK! Other than that, everything with Bobby looks great! Only nine more weeks to go, that's hard to believe!

Friday night Matt went to the races down here, so Zane and I hung out at home. We got a movie, Thomas, but even Zane didn't finish it! We had a nice evening staying in and not doing much of anything!

This weekend was the annual Fall Classic football game at Arrowhead Stadium...Northwest vs. Pitt State. My parents and Adam always come down for it. This was the 7th year and we've been to all of them! My family came down Saturday morning. Mom and I headed out to do some shopping and the guys all went to Home Depot to look for stuff for our basement. We met up for lunch, then got stuff to tailgate and headed to the game. We saw some people there that we knew. It's just a fun atmosphere to be there watching everyone before a big game! It was a great game...Northwest beat Pitt State 35-10! Zane didn't last through the whole game, but was very good while he was awake! He liked watching Bobby Bearcat, but would not talk to him when he got close. Maybe next year...
