Zane's Big News!

Our week didn't start out too great...on Sunday night my dad called us and said that Chris (our best friend that we help race) had been kicked by their horse and was being life flighted to Omaha. At first, we heard he was kicked in the head and we were extremely worried. Finally I ended up calling Nicole, and she told me what had happened. They had been out riding that afternoon and were putting the horses away. It was muddy and Chris slipped in the mud. He fell into the horse, which spooked it, and the horse jumped. Chris and Nicole still aren't sure if he got kicked or was landed on...they said it all happened so fast. Anyway, she took him to the hospital and they decided to take him on to Omaha to be sure everything was okay. He ended up breaking 2 ribs, had a laceration in his liver (that wasn't bleeding) and had part of a lung that was collapsed. So, he was in the hospital all week and finally came home yesterday (Saturday). We are so glad that he is going to be okay. It was a long week worrying and I know it was ten times longer for their family.

The following video is from a week ago and I forgot to post it. Zane was outside blowing bubbles, which he loves doing!

Monday I had kindergarten round-up with a great turnout, so Matt and Zane had some quality time together. They mowed and worked in the yard. The house looked nice when I got home! Tuesday was a very nice day and we felt like eating somewhere outside. We chose TomFooleries because they have a "choo choo" inside that Zane loves. We got to thinking that it probably wasn't a good idea to eat outside there since the tables were right by the road, so we ate inside. The following video is of Zane at the restaurant trying a lemon and then talking to Gaga and Papa!

After supper we went for some ice cream. Zane discovered cotton candy ice cream...and it's blue! He loves it! Here's what he looked like when eating it:

The rest of the week wasn't so nice weather-wise. It was rainy and cold...yuck! I'm ready for actual spring to get here and STAY here!!! Unfortunately we didn't get much time to play outside this week!

The races were cancelled again this weekend becuase of all of the rain. We decided to go home anyway. We aren't sure how long it will be until Chris can race, so Matt wanted to be sure some things were done on the race car if it was going to sit for a few weeks.

We also had some good news to share...read Zane's shirt below:

Yep, that's right, he's going to be a big brother! We had Zane wear this shirt home and NO ONE even noticed! I had to point it out to everyone! I had a shirt that I wore and it said "due in December." We went to the doctor on Wednesday and had an ultrasound. We saw our little peanut and heard the heartbeat. It was such a relief! We are due on December 3rd, so we are very much looking forward to a great holiday season this year! We've been talking to Zane about it and telling him that Mama's having a baby...I'm not sure he quite "gets it" yet! When we ask him "Zane, where's our baby?" he says "Zane's tummy." Then once he said "Zane tummy, little baby. Mama tummy, big baby!" I'm sure he's going to have a hard time sharing the spotlight, but he'll adjust! Zane will always get our attention and love, now we'll just have another little one to love as much as we have Zane!!!

Mud, Mud, Mud!

Last Sunday night Zane was having trouble falling asleep. He kept coming out and watching Matt while he was working on the computer. Finally, he laid down by the door and fell asleep! I had to capture that on film!!

Matt on the computer!

We had a rough week at the Baker household! On Monday, Jo called to say Zane wasn't feeling well and I needed to come get him. Just when we thought he was over it! So I got plans ready for a sub and went to get him. He slept for 4 1/2 hours at home! Then when Matt got home, he told me he wasn't feeling too hot either. He ended up being sick for most of the week, but went to work anyway. He has too much going on at work to miss! As I'm typing today, we're all healthy, so we are thankful!!!

Our friend Jason graduated from chiropractic school this week, so we went to their house Friday evening to help him celebrate. The kids had a really fun time and it was nice to sit back and relax at their house.

This week there was a lot of rain, so the races were once again cancelled. We did end up going to Iowa though, because we had to take our van back to get some touch-ups to the paint (yes, I ran over some concrete in our yard...oops). There was a lot of mud on the farm! You would have thought Zane had never seen mud before the way he was acting...he LOVED it! I guess that's the city boy going to the country! Enjoy the pictures and video of him!

Listen to him laughing on this video!

Have a fantastic week and thanks for checking up on us!!!

My first video!

I know this isn't the best quality of a video...it is taken with my cell phone! We are in love with Zane's new "giggle" so I thought I'd capture it for you all to hear! Have a great week!!!

Zane's "giggle"

Welcome to our new site!

Welcome to our new blog site! Be sure to bookmark this one, as it will be the one I will be updating from now on. This site will allow us to do everything we have done previously, and in addition we'll be able to upload videos for you to enjoy! We thought it would be a nice touch, especially to those of you who don't get to see Zane very often!

This week was a cold one!!! We're all so ready for it to actually feel like spring! It's been a stressful week at school because we are doing our state testing. Lucky for me, kindergarten is the only non-tested grade level. We have been working on trying to help relieve the stress for teachers and students this week by providing goodies and help for them. Only one more week of it and hopefully everyone won't look like zombies!

When I went to get Zane on Thursday, Jo said he was complaining of his tummy hurting. He definitely wasn't acting like himself, so we went home and relaxed. He did end up getting sick, so Matt brought home some work so he could stay home Friday. All day Friday, Zane was, in Matt's words, "bouncing off the walls." We're hoping it was just a touch of something and that he's done with it! He seems to be back to his ornery self, so we are glad for that.

This weekend we didn't come home until Saturday to make sure Zane was okay. The races were cancelled on Friday (there is snow in Iowa)! We went ahead and came home so Matt could work on the car and we would be able to stick around KC next Friday for a graduation party for one of our friends. It's been a good weekend to just stay inside and stay warm!

We hope you like our new site! It may take me a little while to learn all the tricks, but I'm super excited to be able to post videos of Mr. Zane! I'll get to work on that so you can see how cool it is! Take care and thanks for checking in!
